Create at least 3 new open threads weekly and make sure they’re at least three sentences long
Members have a hard time creating threads and prefer to jump into open roleplays that’s them and one other person. Sometimes your open threads will go unnoticed for a week and this can be because no one needed an open thread or the open thread prompt wasn’t their style so try and switch up which character is in the open thread and what is going on in the thread.
Create kitting threads twice a month
This is the number one way to gain new members. Statistically new members are more likely to join your clan as kits than any other rank. Make sure the kitting threads include unique and/ or interesting kit names/ future warrior names, appearances, and identity/ personality. Make sure that you make the personality optional in case the person wants to change it up. Roleplayers also love it when the kitting thread has an actual roleplayed family attached. Having a couple in your clan that continuously produces kits on a monthly basis is VERY beneficial!
Message members to roleplay with you in your clan
Take the time to message your members to roleplay with your clan leader or other characters. Make sure the message is personalized enough to the member where they don’t think you sent it to twelve other people. Most members are unlikely to say no and are happy that you took the time to message them. It also allows their characters to bond with yours adding further character development to both parties
Plot with other clans
Not everyone on the website roleplays in your clan and some might actually love your clan if they were given a reason to notice it. When you plot with other clans those members take notice in your clan. It is also helpful if you make it about the clans and not centered around one character. This allows for the two clans to mingle whether it’s positively or negatively and grow relationships that can form into newer and more interesting plots down the road. It can also result in members wishing to join your clan after having such a fun experience!
Make your leader comfortable for you and interesting
It’s very important that when you roleplay your leader that the responses come naturally for you and that you can roleplay your leader in almost every roleplay scenario. It makes it easier for you to roleplay in your clan and roleplay with other members' characters. Make sure that your characters come off interesting so that members want to roleplay with them. You can make your character interesting by giving them a purpose for what drives them as a leader, how their leadership has impacted the clan now that they’re in charge. It’s all about showing, not telling. Don’t give your leader a complicated sad backstory and show none of the ways it damages your character and those around your character in the present.
Roleplay at least three days during the week in your clan, not at the last minute on a Saturday
Roleplayers want to roleplay with you! They don’t want exciting rps to only be answered four times a month, they want you to be replying to them at least three times a week. Make sure you are on top of your clan roleplays and try to set a goal to put your clans roleplays above all others. If you don’t want to instantly reply to your clans rps then why should anyone else want to? If you’re active and try your best to put your all into roleplays others will take notice!
Don’t despair
Being a leader is hard and it’s natural to feel overwhelmed and anxious, but when you feel this way you have to reach out. If you’re having trouble finding a deputy, communicating with staff members, pulling in rps, or feeling inspired go to the mod chat and ask for advice or message a staff member you feel comfortable talking to. We’re all in this together and we all look to support one another. We can all help each other, but all we first have to do is ask for help.
Keep your pages and threads organized!
Organization isn’t a dire aspect that members on Classic look at, but it does stick out like a sore thumb if you have a plot that was last replied to in April and it’s August now. Make sure to add cats from your joining thread in a timely manner, that the links on your page go to the right threads, and that your forum is up to date and not holding onto old sticky threads. Keeping up to date on Activity Checks is also important so members who wish to promote their characters get a chance to.
Communicate, respect, and thank your staff members
The staff members in your clan are a part of your team. It’s important as team leader that you communicate in a timely and polite manner with your staff without keeping them in the dark. These are the members that are helping you keep your clan together and deserve your respect and time so never let them forget how thankful you are to have them on the team! Make sure you delegate and distribute equal amounts of work among yourself and them. Having a close bond with your staff is key to running your clan as effectively as possible!
